The new ITworld is here! Working with John Gallant, Chief Content Officer and Jodie Naze, Editor of ITworld, the entire editorial team has worked tirelessly side by side with our Digital Solutions Group to create this awesome new site.

We have set the bar high for ITworld! As the site that will grow to become “the most social IT news site” over the next several months, we are focusing that effort not just on content but also in developing ways for marketers to be part of that social experience. New ad programs that we’ve developed include, ITworld Answers and Social Hubs. All these sponsorship opportunities provide the capability for vendors to receive invaluable community input from the IT professionals who visit our site. Recently we hosted a group of IT professionals for a panel discussion to better understand their challenges. One very interesting point that came out loud and clear was that in order for them to have successful dealings with a vendor, that vendor MUST understand what ails them! What better way to understand an IT professional’s concerns/needs than to hear it directly from them?

Most prominent on the site will be activity! And to get the conversation started we’ve already contracted a few high profile bloggers. All the bloggers are recognized industry experts who provide a unique perspective around their respective topics.  ITworld bloggers include:

  • Chris Nerney, Tech Business Today, focus on the business side of technology
  • Peter Smith, The TechnoFile, focus on personal and home technology trends and upcoming products
  • Kevin Fogarty, CoreIT, focus on the “hot” story in IT
I’m very excited about the new capabilities this re-launch brings for ITworld.com. Check out the new site for yourself, www.itworld.com and sign up to start joining the conversation today!

Welcome to my Blog on all things ITworld! Thank you for taking the time to read about what we’re up to here at ITworld and also what our visitors and users are doing.

One of the most unique things about ITworld is our “Contribute” area. Our audience—IT professionals, IT vendors and industry thought leaders—trust and respect our content and repeatedly return to engage with the community. Our site structure offers unique opportunities for our advertising customers to become a part of the dialogue and a resource for tips and best practices, and has lead ITworld to a 43% increase in revenue year-over-year. Here is an example of an IT tip sent to us by a vendor: Kevin Haley, Symantec - 3 security best practices you should be following (but probably aren't)

In fact, ITworld was named to Media Business’ list of 10 Great Media Sites this year in part because of our community/social interaction aspect! We were also recognized for several new content innovations such as “How I Got Here”, “The Daily Tip” and “Lessons Learned.” All these great features focus on practical advice for IT professionals on topics ranging from technologies to watch, to implementation of best practices, to how to advance their careers.

Do you have content you’d like to share? Read some FAQ about contributing to our great site.

I hope you’re able to participate and look back here for more interesting information on ITworld in my next entry.
